Waterproof Membrane

Waterproof decks here in Utah take a lot of abuse. When it's hot outside a wood deck will expand. When it's cold it will contract. From the extreme heat and blistering sun to the extreme cold, and snow these decks can take a beating, so they need to be pretty versatile.

Using a seamless poured-in-place membrane with a properly prepped deck we can prevent the water from penetrating and rotting the wood. There are no cold joints for the water to get through cracks. We like to do the drip edge and flashing ourselves in most cases as this is often a very important part of a waterproof installation and the importance of it can often be overlooked.

There are a variety of waterproof deck systems however we prefer a membrane over any kind of cementitious material as there is just so much movement with the climate differences.

Membranes tend to outperform cementitious materials as they are much more elastic even than polymer-modified types of cement. There are so many different colors, patterns, and designs, these are really fun projects and make for a great place for gatherings or entertainment.
